| Petition to rescind ICE resolution |
Petition to rescind Chatham BOC illegal immigrant resolutionThe Chatham Conservative Voice is circulating a petition asking that the Chatham County Board of Commissioners (BOC) rescind the January 5, 2009 ICE resolution. Many people in the county believe this resolution was written without researching all of the issues related to illegal immigration, was passed with little to no chance for public input, and sends a message that Chatham County is a sanctuary for illegal immigrants. People believe the process by which this resolution isnot a good example of the open government platform of which several commissioners spoke during their campaigns. People also believe that the resolution was not even necessary and has divided the county. You can read more about these concerns below. Signing this petition is your way to voice your opinion to the Chatham County BOC that you feel they have not implemented the open government policies on which they campaigned, that this resolution does not represent your opinions or desires, and that you want them to study the illegal immigrant situation more fully so its full impact on the county are better understood. Please make your opinions known to the BOC by printing this petition, obtaining signatures of friends and families and then returning it to the address listed at the bottom of the petition.
