We will discuss 6 major issues that we need to educate Chatham citizens about. We need to develop an action plan AND QUICKLY. We cannot do this work alone - we need your help. These are current topics of discussion amongst our County Commissioners:

THE GRAND TREES OF CHATHAM - Our Commissioners want to appoint a Commission to study and protect the "Grand Trees of Chatham". In this day - and this economic climate, do you think that the increase in YOUR property taxes should go to fund and effort to a few trees? Our environment is very important, but OUR CHILDREN ARE IMPORTANT and in a time when Chatham County Schools are implementing major cutbacks should we be worrying about a few trees?

THE MAJOR CORRIDOR ORDINANCE - This RADICAL Ordinance has been in the works for over two years. Every time the Commissioners stir it up, they face a backlash and they let it die down - only to continue trying to implement it. Listen to one of our fellow citizens proclaim to Commissioner Kost, "You sound FLIPPANT when you speak of my property - you talk about it like it's yours"...it was a very compelling moment. We must continue bringing this issue to light so that this Ordinance does not deal a final blow to property rights in Chatham!  www.tccv.org

CLIMATE CHANGE - remember Global Warming? There is a new name for this now...they are calling it "Climate Change". And our Commissioners are discussing the refugees that may come to Chatham due to "Climate Change". If you think we are kidding - think again.

LATE GRANT PROPOSAL FROM THE ARTS INCUBATOR - Our County Commissioners appropriated $20,000 for a new Director of the Arts Incubator. The Director neglected to submit their grant proposal in on time to our Commissioners and they want an exemption. THE TAXPAYERS are paying for this! And the "usual suspects" are pleading for their leniency. We should demand results for our taxpayer dollars - accountability!

THE MAGIC BUS - Should all of the citizens of Chatham pay for a failing transportation system in Chapel Hill Transit? Well the Mayor of Pittsboro and our County Commissioners think you should! They are pleading for our tax dollars and insist that the LBTD revenues will compensate for it. Do you buy that? Let's tell the TRUTH about what this will cost Chatham!

And last but not least...

THE ICE RESOLUTION - The good citizens of Chatham County should not rest until our County Commissioners rescind the ICE Resolution! It is not just a resolution. We are paying for the HRC to develop these resolutions for the approval of the County Commissioners! This resolution is not binding, it implies that our law enforcement officers cannot be trusted and it sends the message to illegal aliens that commit crimes that they have a safe haven in our County. We need to continue the cause to have this resolution, submitted on behalf of the "citizens of Chatham" (that would be YOU and ME), rescinded!
