The budget meetings are over, summer is winding down and we must get back to work! Several members of CCV have been busy this summer. We have been meeting with elected officials and grassroots activists in an effort to educate ourselves on the critical issues facing our county. We feel that it is very important to offer you an update. This is just a few items we are covering in our research! We need everyone to pitch in and take action to ensure limited government and regulation.
CCV is also planning our next meeting – to take place prior to the public hearing on the Major Corridor Ordinance. Please show how important Property Rights are TO YOU! This is YOUR land! We must stand up for it. Please visit our website www.tccv.org for complete details on the MCO. We also feature videos of the forum CCV held on this issue just a few months ago. We held the Forum with the cooperation of the Chatham GOP and John Locke Foundation.
Onto the updates:

6:30pm North Chatham Elementary school multipurpose room - The details of this "community meeting" have changed SEVERAL times! WHY?! Don't let our out-of-control government think that they've been successful in confusing us. SHOW UP and make your voice heard! Educate yourself!
Hear updates on the status of the plan.
Find out if several years of meetings have produced anything meaningful or
if Cary still sets the agenda.
Have the meetings produced meaningful changes or will development still be
controlled by the land itself through well and perc sites?
Will the new Jordan Lake rules effectively overrule any current plans?
Will the plan guide development or stop it?
****Tuesday August 11 - Joint meeting of the Chatham BOC and Planning Board to
discuss the Major Corridor Ordinance. CCV will have information on The Chatham Land Grab at this event – do not miss this important document to learn more about how the MCO threatens YOUR Property Rights!
6:00 CCCC Multipurpose Room, Pittsboro
This is your chance to watch as the final version of the MCO is drafted in
preparation for a public hearing.
If you want to know just how the county plans to restrict development along
the major highways this is your chance.
Even if you don't own property along the major highways if you have concerns
about your property rights in Chatham County, come and watch the people that
think THEY know what is best for YOUR property.
Preparation is our best defense.
****Monday August 17 - Chatham BOC meeting
6:00 District Courtroom, Pittsboro
Public hearing on extending the county lighting ordinance to the entire
county.
If you live in the unzoned portion of the county this is just the beginning
of county government control of ALL county land.
More red tape and expense!!!
The ordinance requires a lighting plan to be reviewed and approved before a
building permit is issued.
